Govt Cheese

It doesn’t sound like a fantasy topic. But maybe, if you relax your mind and lean into your imagination perhaps it could be the premise for some kind of urban fantasy. Who knows?

It’s related to fantasy for me because this post – Fantasy Fridays – was born out of reading Steven Pressfield’s Writing Wednesday posts. I wanted/needed a similar place to talk about my passion.

Some of you may know Steven Pressfield and some of you may have never heard of him. If you go to his website, you can sign up for the Writing Wednesday posts. He writes about more than just writing topics.

Recently, as a matter of fact, he has been writing about our time in the “Wilderness.” That period where we pursue everything else but our calling. He also talks about these things on his Instagram feed. The Warrior Ethos is another topic he spent some time delving into.

Pressfield recently released his latest book Govt Cheese. I received it the other day and I relished the unboxing process. The same day, I picked up some printed versions of the cover art in its various formats for my upcoming book Ruinwaster’s Bane. I also had a couple of other experiences that I will talk about where people spent a similar period – thirty years – in the Wilderness before coming to their calling. I talk about my journey in the Wilderness on LinkedIn and the hard won lessons I learned there.

Over the next several weeks I’m going to share the unboxing and share my own revealing of my inner passion with the goal of one day creating and delivering something along the lines of what I received from Steven Pressfield. And once we’ve unboxed Govt Cheese we can begin the countdown for the cover reveal for Ruinwaster’s Bane: The Annals of the Last Emissary.
