This blog post begins my Fantasy Fridays series on the Tenets from the Law of Creation.

Every culture has some kind of creation myth. A story about where they as a people come from, where the Earth comes from, and how the world works.

If you’re world-building for an imagined story, there is no more grounding principle than the creation mythos that defines the beliefs of that world. The Law of Creation is a belief system and a philosophy about how the world is ordered.

In the Annals of the Last Emissary, I imagined the world as a kind of pre-Genesis Earth. The world would still be new and imperfect. The people would possess a kind of “Genesis-like” understanding of how their world was organized. Something that would help them survive with all of the old evils that still remained from the chaos out of which the universe was formed.

In this early version of Earth, I imagined an understanding of creation that would help define the world view for all the principles and mechanics for a people caught between turmoils. Between The Last Battle and the coming threat from Lord Morgrom The Divider.

I envisioned the Tenets from the Law of Creation as a philosophy that would guide and bind people together in a common understanding about the tenuous world they all lived in.

Seeds, earth, and life are intertwined

Love and life are intertwined

Life and death are intertwined

Creation is a process and a principle

The process reveals the principle
